Lilac Purple Springtails

Ceratophysella sp. "Lilac"

Ceratophysella sp. "Lilac," our Purple springtails, are a robust, plump-bodied Collembola in the Hypogastruridae family — the same family as the cold-hardy "snow flea" (Hypogastrura nivicola). Their coloration ranges from soft lavender to a deeper violet-grey, adding a striking splash of color against dark substrate.

Like their Hypogastruridae relatives, they're fast, active jumpers and prolific breeders that make an excellent generalist cleanup crew, readily consuming mold, fungus, and decaying organic waste in bioactive vivariums, isopod bins, and planted terrariums.

Originally described from cooler, temperate-to-alpine climates, they handle cold far better than strictly tropical springtails, while still thriving in warm, humid vivarium setups as long as the substrate never fully dries out.

Every culture is farm-raised here at Springtail Farmy and shipped as active, breeding-age animals ready to colonize your enclosure.
